About Our General Construction Senior Estimator Role:
As a Senior Estimator, you’ll lead the estimation process for general construction projects, driving optimization in project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and overall success. You will spearhead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, mentor junior staff, and ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations, with your expertise serving as a key driver in strategic decision-making.
Some of the things you will do as a General Construction Senior Estimator:
- Manage bid processes, securing competitive subcontractor bids, and optimizing vendor selection for increased project profitability.
- Strategically engage in the design phase and conduct comprehensive plan analysis including detailed assessments of material requirements, labor resources, and project specifications.
- Produce accurate and competitive estimates and proposals that incorporate scheduling, considerations for potential risks, value engineering. opportunities, and construction methodologies.
- Lead document control, ensuring seamless coordination and high efficiency throughout the estimation process.
- Enhance cost estimation accuracy through efficient quantity take-offs and alignment of SPAN takeoffs with trade proposals.
- Proactively manage RFIs to resolve discrepancies, ensuring clarity for clients and minimizing potential monetary or time impacts.
- Leverage cost data from completed projects to establish a robust historical database, optimizing future estimate accuracy.
- Analyze completed projects, comparing estimated costs to actual costs, and provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Cultivate robust relationships with clients and cross-disciplinary professionals, fostering a collaborative project environment.
- Conducted in-depth research on current market trends, material pricing, labor rates, and other cost-related factors, contributing to informed decision-making and cost optimization.
Some of the Things We’re Looking For:
- Experience with self performing work and production estimation for structures ranging anywhere from 20,000 to 1+ million square feet.
- Expertise in labor cost estimation is a plus.
- Deep understanding of construction processes and market dynamics.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to take on multiple projects and meticulously track all projects through to completion.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite including MS Project and AutoCAD and estimation software.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $130,000 Annually
Position Status: Full-Time
Amount of Travel: Frequently, primarily for site visits or vendor meetings as needed throughout the country.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, or as necessary as project deadlines approach.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to remain in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity needed to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Ability to occasionally visit construction sites, requiring mobility and the ability to wear personal protective equipment.
Work Environment:
- Primarily based in an office setting with a controlled climate.
- Site visits may expose individuals to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and the physical aspects of a construction site.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a General Construction Estimator or a combination of Project Manager and Estimator experience.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in the design-build or general construction industry with familiarity with the CSI format and what is included in each division.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with federal, state, regional, and local laws and regulations related to the construction industry.
- Ability to discern and point out potential design conflicts.
- Strong technical writing skills for proposals.
- Strong mathematical abilities and skills.
- Working knowledge of:
- General construction equipment.
- Building materials.
- Construction techniques and means and methods.
- Plan set types and levels.
Computer and Technology Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Microsoft Project Professional scheduling software.
- Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, eTakeoff.
- Sage Estimating, preferred but not required.
- Procore, preferred but not required.
- Building Connected, preferred but not required.
- BIM360, preferred but not required.
- Smartsheets, preferred but not required.
- AutoCAD, Revit or Navisworks, preferred but not required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Must have a valid drivers’ license. Must be able to be insured on the Company’s insurance policy as a driver for the Company.
